Whether you’re brand new to herbs or deepening a lifelong practice, our online courses are here to support you in becoming an herbalist in your everyday life.
You’ll learn to confidently work with plants, create effective remedies with your own hands, and build a meaningful connection with the living world around you. Along the way, you’ll join a warm and welcoming community of people who find purpose, joy, and healing through herbalism.
Our founder, Rosalee de la Forêt, has been teaching herbalism online since 2010, making her one of the early voices to bring this traditional practice into the digital world in a meaningful and accessible way.
Herbs with Rosalee officially launched in 2021 with the creation of our flagship course, Rooted Medicine Circle—a hands-on program designed to help people build confidence in making their own herbal remedies. Since then, we’ve added foundational courses like Cooling Inflammation and the Herbal Energetics Course, each one crafted to guide you on your herbal journey with clarity, inspiration, and practical skills you can use right away.
Since those beginnings, we’ve welcomed tens of thousands of students into our learning community—people just like you who were looking for a trustworthy, joyful, and grounded way to learn about herbs.
We also serve the wider herbal community through the Herbs with Rosalee Podcast, a weekly show that highlights one plant at a time. With thousands of listeners each week and over 1 million downloads, it’s become a beloved and trusted resource for plant lovers around the world.

I’ve spent over two decades wandering the meeting place between the wild and the tended—where plants and people come alive together.
As a lifelong lover of the plant world, I’m known for bringing joy and clarity to the process of learning herbalism. I offer practical insights, a deep curiosity, and a hands-on approach to working with herbs—one that blends tradition, science, and a dash of wonder.
Through my online school, books, and podcast, I invite you to explore herbalism in a way that’s grounded, empowering, and deeply connected to the place you call home. My teaching encourages an ecosystems approach, helping you build relationships with the plants that grow around you and get rooted in your own landscape.
Herbalism isn’t just my profession—it’s my calling. I’m honored to share this path with you.
I’m the author of two bestselling books, Alchemy of Herbs and Wild Remedies (co-authored with Emily Han), and I’m a Registered Herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild. You can read more about my herbal background here.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me outside—hiking, gardening, or simply marveling at how plants make the ordinary extraordinary.
Herbs with Rosalee isn’t a hands-off, teach-yourself kind of program. We’re not a course mill cranking out generic content just to make a sale. We’re a real school—one that’s deeply devoted to your success.
Our courses are intentionally designed with depth, clarity, and care. They’re fully supported with live classes and live Q&A sessions, so you can get your questions answered in real time. Our main courses also include a private online community where students connect, share, and grow together—because herbalism is meant to be practiced in community, not isolation.
We’re not the cheapest option out there—and we’re okay with that. What we offer is high-quality education with a rare level of personal support. This means you’re not just watching videos and taking notes—you’re building confidence, developing practical skills, and becoming the herbalist you want to be.
And it works. Our students complete our courses at exceptionally high rates. Everything we teach is rooted in hands-on learning that supports you in growing real, lasting skills you’ll carry with you for life.
This school has grown in so many beautiful ways! And it truly takes a village to keep it thriving. Meet the wonderful team behind the scenes and get to know our incredible guest teachers below.

jim mcdonald
jim mcdonald is an herbalist in southeast Michigan (that cool state that looks like a mitten you can see from space) where he teaches, sees clients, wildharvests, and concocts a plethora of diverse herbal formulas.
His approach to herbalism blends European folk influences mixed up with a bit of 19th century eclectic and physiomedical vitalism, which he tries to spice up with a bit of humor and discretionary irreverence so as not to appear to be too serious about life. (And if you’ve ever wondered, the lack of capitalization is because the dots over the "j" and the "i" just look super cool together).
